Every Friday. Three locations. Open to all. The simplest idea — and one of the most powerful things we do.
Statistically, Friday evenings are a hotspot for antisocial behaviour across inner-city Birmingham. Young people finish school, the week ends, and for too many there is simply nothing to do and nowhere safe to be.
Football Fridays was built in direct response to this reality. Every Friday, across three community locations, we open our doors to any young person who wants to play. No sign-up, no cost, no barrier. You just show up.
Our coaches don’t just coach football — they act as trusted youth workers, building relationships that extend far beyond the pitch.
Young people can come and go as they please. The informality is intentional — because the young people who need us most are often the ones least likely to commit to something structured. We meet them where they are.
Football Fridays runs across three sites in some of Birmingham's most deprived inner-city communities.
Alum Rock
East Birmingham
Our Alum Rock sessions at Rockwood Academy serve one of Birmingham’s most densely populated and deprived communities. A key anchor session in our programme.
Nechells
East Birmingham
Serving the Nechells community at Heartlands Academy school, providing a safe, active Friday evening option for young people in the area.
Sparkbrook
Inner-City Birmingham
In partnership with Birmingham Youth Service at Concord Youth Centre. Part of our expanding Football Fridays network.
